Less than 18 hours after winning gold in the women’s all-around gymnastics competition at the London Olympics, Gabby Douglas was already on the cover of a Corn Flakes cereal box.
The 16-year-old gymnast, dubbed “The Flying Squirrel,” has made history, becoming the first Black gymnast to bring home gold in the individual all-around competition. She also became the first American to win both the all-around and team events at the same Olympics.
Put simply, young Douglas, who left her family behind at age 14 to move to Iowa to pursue her dreams of becoming an elite athlete, has become an overnight star. And, the endorsement deals are expected to roll in by the millions.
Experts are saying that Douglas could earn 10-million or more in endorsements over the next few years, reports ABC News.
“Gabby Douglas is perfect for family oriented brands that are looking for someone that portrays all of those classic Middle America values,” said Robert Tuchman, a sports marketing analyst who sat down with ABC.

The newfound income will be a blessing for Douglas’ family. Her single mother, Natalie Hawkins has reportedly invested a lot in her daughter’s Olympic dreams and was nervous when all the top sponsorship spots were taken before the games began, reports the New York Times.
